Persons with disabilities, one of the world's largest minority groups, continue to face systemic barriers to education, skills acquisition, employment, and social inclusion. The challenge
What stands in the way
Across Africa and around the world, persons with disabilities continue to face significant barriers to education, skills development, and economic opportunities.
Many are excluded from mainstream schools and training programs because of stigma, inaccessible facilities, and inadequate inclusive policies. These barriers continue into the workforce, where discrimination and insufficient workplace accommodations limit access to meaningful employment.
As a result, many individuals face poverty, dependence, and social exclusion, with limited pathways to self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
